Brian O’Kane
Brian O’Kane is managing director of Oak Tree Press He has written (or co-written) over a dozen books – including Starting a Business in Ireland – and edited two of the world’s largest-circulation accounting magazines. He writes and speaks regularly on small business planning and strategy.
He holds a B.Comm. degree from UCD and is finishing a Masters in Entrepreneurship at Waterford IT. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and the Institute of Management Consultants & Advisers. Brian is a member of the Councils of the Small Firms Association and of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
Denise Doran
Denise is an international marketing professional with 20 years experience with Nortel, Hitachi and Dell in a variety of global strategic planning, product marketing and marketing communications roles in Dublin, Maidenhead (UK) and Paris (France). Denise (BBS, MBA) also has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Henley School of Management (UK) and a Certificate in Continuing and Professional Development from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM). Since 2001, Denise has worked as an independent marketing consultant, mentor and trainer specializing in entrepreneurs, tech start-ups and SMEs. She has also lectured in market research at third level.
Gerry Delaney
Gerry Delaney is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland After training at Ernst & Young in Dublin he joined Jefferson Smurfit Group Plc in 1983 as Finance Director of Smurfit Finance & Leasing. In 1991 he helped establish the Smurfit Job Creation and Enterprise Fund, a joint venture with Enterprise Ireland.
Gerry established Delaney Financial Consultancy in 2000 which specialises in financial management and business planning finance. He delivers training and mentoring services to various incubation programmes including Enterprise Launch, Synergy EP, NovaUCD, The LINC, Invent DCU, Create and DKIT. In addition he provides consultancy services to SME’s and in 2007 he established another business providing outsourced management and administration services to SME’s.
Cathal Lane
Cathal is a highly experienced European patent attorney and is Deputy Managing Partner in Tomkins & Co. He has an extensive practice before the European Patent Office and national practice in Ireland and the UK, including patent litigation, and his practice includes advice on all aspects of international IP protection. Now a Council member of EPI (the institute which governs European Patent Attorney matters) and former Chairperson of the Patent Laws Committee of the Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, Cathal has represented patent attorney views on patent practice matters and legislation changes. Cathal is a former speaker to the Orange County Patent Law Association, a regular lecturer to College students, tutor on European patent law and practice, contributor to the book 'New Venture Creation in Ireland' and conducts regular practical workshops on IP.
With a background in the pharmaceutical sector and agricultural his range of technologies includes pharmaceutical, medical devices, machinery, composite materials and adhesive, sealant and coating materials.
Ian Cleary
Ian has over 20 years experience working in the technology industry and has extensive knowledge in the use of technology to market your business online. Through his company RazorCoast he provides a full range of internet marketing services including technology development. He has a BSc in Business and Information Technology, a Post Grad in Business Development, PMI Certified from the Project Management Institute and is certified in the FETAC train the trainer programme. He is an entrepreneur and really enjoys assisting fellow entrepreneurs achieve online success.
Gerry Moan
Gerry Moan is Managing Director of Constructive Intervention, a leading business development practice working in partnership with the SFA, Chambers Ireland, Enterprise Boards and several other national organisations, as well as a wide and varied range of SME and corporate clients. He has delivered programmes to over a thousand businesses in the fields of marketing and strategic planning, team based change, and leadership. Gerry holds an Advanced Certificate in Business Counselling from the University of Durham, and is closely associated with the Durham Business School Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprise Development. He has served on the boards of several companies, is a past member of the IBA (Irish Business Advisors) National Executive, and a former Regional Chairman of the Marketing Institute of Ireland. An accomplished and inspirational sales coach and public speaker, Gerry brings his expertise to companies focussing on building and maintaining relationships with prospective customers and help them devise and validate effective sales and marketing strategies.
